“You just inherited $1,000,000 from an aunt you didn’t even know existed. What’s the first thing you buy (or otherwise use the money for)?”
The first thing I would do is pay off all of my house, student loans, car and other bills. Pay 10% to a charity or charities, if we don’t belong to a Church. Most likely it would be charities that help start businesses in poor area, support foster care, animals and the environment. The second thing I would do is to pay back anyone that has helped me in my life if I can find them all. Any remaining money would be put into a savings account and trust funds for my grandchildren. And I would help out my family members with paying some of their bills. Especially my In-laws as they have done so much for us. I know I could not sleep well if I did not try to give back for the help that I have gotten by helping others and paying what I owe.
I like the fact you are giving back to the community and thinking about your grandchildren, it says a lot about you 🙂
Thanks Chelle!
I’m with you!! I often play this game in my head, and can never come up with anything I REALLY want to buy for myself!! 😀
I would get more out of helping others. Especially helping families get back on their feet. I would like to travel a bit though. Somewhere with white sand beaches and fruity drinks. 😀
Maldives!! Most beautiful place in the world!! I WILL go back one day!!
Great! I would pay off my house and cars and a bit a secret spot and I like the trip idea. I would go to St Lucia! ( always wanted to visit). I would help my mom out. Then…..Because I don’t think the $ will do us any good in the future I would do what I find rewarding. I would give the rest to several different missionaries who work in Africa and China to buy the Holy Bible and to put them in the hands of those who are starving for the Word of God! I know that is the one thing I never want to be without. Many people literally get them and have to tear books apart and each area church take a book out of the bible and they each learn and then teach and then exchange for another. Many people have to only listen to someone teach and cannot read in their language their own bibles family bible. God teaches me so much from reading myself. Same verse many times will teach me something new depending on the season of my life. Always exciting! Sadly many Americans don’t want to hear Him, many who do not have the opportunity are so full of hunger for it and moved to overwhelming tears of joy to have it. The word of God can do more for others than what I can do. Give hope, joy, love, encourage to keep the faith and most of all LIFE. They begin a deep walk with The Lord God Almighty and a relationship and their lives will be forever changed! I would do that now with the money while we still can!
Thanks for sharing the inspiring question!
